About
John Corlis is a media composer and songwriter based in Los Angeles, CA, originally from Colorado Springs. He earned his Bachelor of Music in Media Composition from California State University, Northridge — where he received a scholarship for classical piano, the Ada Beth Lee Memorial Award, and sang with the Northridge Singers, named "Choir of the World" during his tenure.
He scored his first feature film, Death by Engagement, while still in college — earning a Best Film Underscore nomination at the Melbourne Florida Film Festival. Most recently, his score for Demba premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) — one of the world's most prestigious cinema events — cementing his reputation as a composer working at the highest levels of international film.
"A soundtrack that veers from ominous jangles to elegiac piano breaks."
— Screen Daily · Berlinale 2024 · Demba
His credits span horror, documentary, drama, and short film, with premieres on Starz, VH1, and at Mann's Chinese Theater in Hollywood. John has written and co-written songs with Grammy-nominated producers and ASCAP top earners, with placements across major networks, studio films, and national TV commercials.
